Grace Period is an extra amount of time allowed for an employee to meet the required log in time. There are 2 types of grace period that can be set for Sprout HR:
- Normal- late minutes deduction will start from the beginning of the shift/core hours.
- Deduct Only - late minutes deduction will start at the end of the grace period.
To further explain how these work, see scenarios below:
Example 1
- Grace Period = 15 minutes
- Employee’s shift is 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
- Employee clocked in at 8:07 AM.
Whether the Grace Period type is Normal or Deduct Only, the employee will have no corresponding late minutes since log in is within the grace period.
Example 2
- Grace Period = 15 minutes
- Employee’s shift is 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
- Employee clocked in at 8:17 AM.
If the Grace Period type is Normal, the employee will incur 17 minutes late which was counted from the beginning of his shift.
However, if the Grace Period type is Deduct only, the employee will incur only 2 minutes late which was counted from the end of the grace period.
