Pre-shift and post-shift thresholds are put in place to prevent logs from getting assigned to the incorrect shift. Understanding how they work is more important than it would seem at first, especially when it already applies to filing overtimes and crediting the work hours properly to their respective dates. Let's get to know this topic better here.
- Log in/s - within 6 hours before the shift start
- Log out/s - within 8 hours after the shift end
2. For employees on Flexi Per Day schedule type:
- Log in/s - within 6 hours before the core start
- Log out/s - within 12 hours after the core end
1. Schedule type is normal on a Tuesday from 9:00 am (shift start) to 6:00 pm (shift end).
Sample 1:
Date: March 28 (Tuesday)
Log in: 7:48 a.m.
Log out: 8:10 p.m.
Result: Both logs are assigned correctly to Tuesday.
Sample 2:
Date: March 28 (Tuesday)
Log in: 12:37 a.m.
Log out: 5:08 p.m.
Result: The log in will be considered as part of the previous shift on Monday, but log out will be assigned correctly to shift on Tuesday.
Sample 3:
Date: March 28 (Tuesday)
Log in: 8:23 a.m.
Log out: 3:10 a.m. (Wednesday)
Result: The log in will be assigned correctly to shift on Tuesday, but log out will be considered as part of the next shift on Wednesday
2. Schedule type is flexi per day on a Tuesday from 9:00 am (core start) to 1:00 pm (core end)
Sample 1:
Date: March 28 (Tuesday)
Log in: 8:23 a.m.
Log out: 1:02 a.m. the next day
Result: The log in is correctly assigned to the Tuesday shift, however, the log out will no longer be considered as part of that shift and will be associated to the next shift.
Sample 2:
Date: March 28 (Tuesday)
Log in: 2:58 a.m.
Log out: : 6:08 p.m.
Result: The log in will be considered part of the previous shift (Monday), but the log out will be correctly assigned to the Tuesday shift.
*Note: If employees are tagged as Missing Logs for a day but they actually have logs, make sure to check if their logs are within the thresholds of the shift.
