When filing an overtime application, you would come across the Overtime (OT) Classification before proceeding with the submission of your application.
But have you ever wondered what type of OT classification should you set for the overtime you are applying?
1. Early OT
This would pertain to work done before the start of the shift.
Scenario:
Schedule Type: Normal Shift
Shift Schedule: 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
In: 7:00 AM
Out: 6:00 PM
Since the employee rendered work before their shift for the day began, this would be classified as an early overtime application. The Start time and End time would comprise of their first log for the day captured by the system as well as the start of their shift.
2. Normal OT
This would pertain to work done after the end of their shift.
Scenario:
Schedule Type: Normal Shift
Shift Schedule: 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
In: 09:00 AM
Out: 8:00 PM
Since the employee rendered work after their shift for the day ended, this would be classified as a normal overtime application. The Start time and End time would comprise of the end of their shift as well as their last log of the day captured by the system.
3. Compensatory Time Off
This would pertain to overtime done after the shift that the employee wishes to convert into leave credits instead of overtime premium.
