Sprout Mobile is capable of two different clocking features, namely Geotag and Geofence, which are set up per department under the company on Sprout HR. Though please note that only one clocking feature can be enabled per department (for example Department A on Geotag and Department B on Geofence).
But what is the difference between these two clocking features anyway?
Well, it's simple really. With geotag, employees can clock-in or clock-out anywhere at any time. Their location will be shown in the Location Name Bar (as shown below) prior to creating their logs to ensure that the correct location will reflect.
Clocking In/Out for Geotag Users
Note:
- The pin of the user's location will update every 100m and will be reflected accordingly on the location name bar.
- For the departments in your company that needs to be configured for Geotag, please contact experts@sprout.ph.
With the geofence, it gets a little tricky. If this is enabled for their department, the employees can only clock-in or clock-out within a certain location and radius. As such, if the pin is not within the "fence", they would not be able to clock-in/clock-out.
Clocking In/Out for Geofence Users
When assigned to Geofence, employees will be able to clock in/out to a specific location within a configured location radius in Sprout HR web.
Single Geofence
For employees with only one geofence, the location name be can be clicked to get the geofence on the clock in/out page.
Multiple Geofence
Employees assigned to multiple geofences can choose from detected overlapping locations. To select, click the location name bar to display all location actions. Only those locations detected as overlapping where the employee is at will be shown.
Reminders:
⦁ The location name bar can also be used to update the location of the employee.
⦁ Please note that the location may not be 100% accurate due to the device’s GPS technology limitation and connectivity.
⦁ The live clock shown in the mobile application is only a display and is not used when biometric logs are being used.
Note:
- If location changes while on the map, users can click the location name bar to check if he/she is still within the geofence.
- For the departments in your company that needs to be configured for Geofence, please contact experts@sprout.ph.
Now you're probably wondering how the location and radius are set up? Well, as they say, that's a story for another day.
