To ensure that no duplicate payroll runs are created, Sprout Payroll includes a 'Prompt Message' feature to notify you. The message 'Last payroll pay group does not match with the current one' appears when you attempt to create a payroll for the same month, period, and pay group that has already been processed.
In the sample scenario below, you are now in the process of creating the December Period 1 2024 normal payroll. However, this prompt message appears which is unable for you to process the payroll run.
It appears that the payroll for December 16–31, 2023, was mistakenly processed under the year 2024, instead of 2023. As a result, you are unable to process the payroll for December 16–31, 2024, for the year 2024.
To resolve this, you will need to unpost and delete the December 16–31, 2023 payroll. However, before doing so, ensure that you generate the Payroll Register for December 16–31, 2023, and upload it via the Adjustment Run (refer to How to Upload YTD using Adjustment Run'). This will correct the record for 2023 and ensure it is excluded from the 2024 payroll.
Once done, you may be able to process the December period 1 payroll for the year 2024.
