Oftentimes, an Admin is designated to update a few details in Employee Profiles but is restricted to accessing (viewing, adding, editing, and deleting) the salary details of the employees. In this article, we will discuss how to do this on Sprout HR.
You may check and update the Employee Viewing of the user to ensure that he can only view the necessary employees. Here's how:
1. Go to Maintenance > Access Levels
2. Select the user and check Employee Viewing. Update it as necessary

Once done checking, you may proceed in the steps below:
Employee Page Access:
- This is to ensure that the users will not be able to view the Salary and Current Payroll Information of the employee they are viewing.
1. Go to Maintenance > Access Levels
2. Select the specific user or create a new one
3. Go to Employee Page Access (user's access to employee's profile)
4. Navigate through Salary and Current Payroll Information tabs (remove the access to view, add, edit, or delete). For CPI, select No Access.
5. Save the changes
Bulk Add/Edit Template:
-Since the salary details will not be removed in the Bulk Add/Edit template and the user will have the access to view them, you may remove the access for Bulk Upload (Employee Information) to restrict them from viewing these details.
1. While you're on the same user, go to Navigation Access > Bulk Upload
2. Save the changes
Important Note:
- Adding a new employee via Add Employee in Admin Tool is restricted to any users with no access to the Salary or Current Payroll Information tabs of the employees. You may check this for your reference: Error Creating Employee in Payroll Prompt for Synced Accounts
Expected error to occur when adding an employee:
- Since the Salary and Current Payroll Information are restricted for the user, he will not be able to generate this in Employee List Report. It is expected that the filters for the salary details are not available when generating this report.
