In this article, we will learn about ways how to set up the Leave Policy/Filing for New Hire/Probationary Employees in Sprout HR.
Usually, New Hire/Probationary Employees are not entitled to any Leave Credits but are allowed to file for Leave WITHOUT Pay.
And, this is how the Leave Policy for Probationary Employees is usually set up in Sprout HR:
The setup shown above will allow the Probationary Employees to file for their Leave Application WITHOUT PAY.
But, what if you wanted your employees to earn Leave Credits while on Probationary and not allow them to use their Leave Credits?
Here's what you can do:
Set the Probationary Leave Set Up based on your Company Policy regarding the following:
- How to earn credits?
- Carry-Over Policy
- Accrual over waiting period
Here's a sample setup:
This setup will enable the system to provide the employees' Leave Credits while on Probationary Period but will NOT allow them to file applications.
If you opt for this setup and still want your Probationary Employees to file for Leave WITHOUT PAY, here's what you can do:
- First, you need to set up the Leave Policy for the Probationary Employees just like in the 2nd sample image shown above.
- Once done, you would need to create a separate Leave Plan for the Probationary Employees that can be named LWOP(Leave Without Pay)
