How to Generate Bank Transmittal Files (.DAT)

Bank transmittal files (in .DAT format) are used to credit payroll to employees online through their respective banks. To generate this on Sprout Payroll, make sure you’ve done the following first:

1. Add the bank and assign to the employees on their profiles.
2. Generate payroll.

Here are the steps you should take to generate the bank transmittal file:

1. At the bottom of the page of the generated payroll, click the Download Reports button and select Bank DAT File From the drop-down list that appears.

 

2. Select the Payroll Release Date, and click Download.

 

3. Open the downloaded text document.
