There would be days when an employee is expected to report to work during their Rest Days; for some, the reason may be to catch up on backlogs and for others, to address time-sensitive projects. If an employee will be working on their supposed rest day, a corresponding premium should be given to them for the work done. Though this would still depend on how the premium will be given: if the company will allow them to offset this to another day or be given monetary premiums.

However, there are instances when upon filing overtime during a rest day, the system would not allow the user to do so. A prompt such as below would appear:
Have you ever wondered why this seems to be the case? The answer is quite simple, really. It's because rest day overtime on Sprout HR corresponds to work done in excess of the rest day shift (for Normal Shift) and the total hours to work (for Flexible per Day).
If you only rendered the same hours as your shift (Normal Shift) or have completed the total required hours to work indicated on your Employee Profile (Flexible per Day), there would be no need to file an overtime application as you will already be given premiums for the rest day work. A separate premium rate would be given in the event that you rendered work beyond your rest day shift.
