On Sprout HR, there are two types of attendance computations, Real-Time/Standard and First Shift Basis. Real-Time/Standard computation would depend on what day the employee's shift falls under (e.g. legal holiday, ordinary day, etc). Still confused? You may take a look at our knowledge-base article about this here: What Are the Types of Attendance Computation?
Now that we've got the basics down for Real-Time/Standard attendance computation, let's see how this'll affect payroll types (semi-monthly paid or daily-paid employees) on a Legal Holiday.
- Schedule Type: Normal Shift
- Total Hours to Work (including break): 9 hours
- Holiday Pay Eligibility: None (employees are always eligible for holiday pays)
- Night differential hours: 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM
- Policy is set to deduct break from ND
**Assume that the employee did not incur any late or absences during the holiday or the whole cut-off period

For Real-Time/Standard computation types, employees would receive all (basic and premiums combined) or nothing as there is no option to separate the basic pay from the premium nor does it allow the option to give an additional 8 hours in the Total Hours Worked for Daily-Paid employees during Legal Holidays.
Given this, the OT rate for the Legal Holiday premium for Monthly-Paid employees should be set to 100% as their basic salary is already comprised of their rate for the whole month. Whereas the OT rate for the Legal Holiday premium for Daily-Paid employees should be set to 200% so they will receive double pay if they worked on a Legal Holiday. Though if they did not work during the holiday yet you prefer for them to receive basic pay, you may manually add an additional 8 hours in the Total Hours Worked column on the Attendance Setup during payroll processing.
Here are some articles that may help you know more about OT Tables:
That was quite a read, wasn't it? But hey, now you know how this attendance computation would affect different payroll types on a Legal holiday!
