On Sprout HR, there are two types of attendance computations, Real-Time/Standard and First-Shift Basis. First-Shift Basis computation would depend on what type of day the first half of the employee's shift falls under (e.g. legal holiday, ordinary day, etc). Still confused? You may take a look at our knowledge-base article about this here: What Are the Types of Attendance Computation?
Now that we've got the basics down for First-Shift Basis attendance computation, let's see how this'll affect payroll types (semi-monthly paid or daily-paid employees) on a Legal Holiday.
- Schedule Type: Normal Shift
- Total Hours to Work (including break): 9 hours
- Holiday Pay Eligibility: None (employees are always eligible for holiday pays)
- Night differential hours: 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM
- The policy is set to deduct break from ND
**Assume that the employee did not incur any late or absences during the holiday or the whole cut-off period

** If the policy is set to separate the basic pay and premium, the Legal Holiday premium should be set to 100%. Given this setup, they will be credited with the basic pay even if they did not report to work on the said holiday. Additionally, if they report to work on the said holiday, they will be given a 100% premium on top of the basic pay.
For First-Shift Basis computation types, there is an option to separate the basic pay from the premium wherein an item in the policy would give an additional 8 hours in the Total Hours Worked for Daily-Paid employees during Legal Holidays.
