A weekly work schedule indicates which employees of a company are going to work at which times, to guarantee the efficient distribution of labor resources. On Sprout HR, we’ve added 3 more types of work schedules on the employee profile for your company to choose from. Please be reminded that these additional features are not automatically enabled on your Sprout HR account. To enable this, you can coordinate directly with your Customer Success Manager.
To know how each schedule types differ, you may refer to this article.
1. Shift-Based Schedule Type
• Closely resembles Normal Shift. Here, employees should render the required number of hours indicated on their profile. Keep in mind that logs must always be based on the scheduled shift of the day.
• Unlike the Normal Shift, lates and undertime minutes for Shift-Based employees hinge on both shift hours and hours to work. This means that if an employee goes beyond his scheduled break hours, the system will be able to document this and he would automatically incur late minutes.
• Most applicable to employees who are permitted to go on long breaks.
• Note: Logs should always be paired (IN, OUT). Unpaired logs (only IN or only OUT) will not be recognized by the system and would lead to schedule discrepancies on the employee’s Attendance Report.
Example
Schedule Type: Shift-Based
Shift Hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Designated Break: 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM
As previously mentioned, logs should be strictly paired. In this case, the employee must log-in at 8:00 AM to avoid incurring late minutes. Before going on lunch break, he should clock-out at 12:00 PM to mark the start of the break. If he'd like to have an extended break up until 3:00 PM, he should clock back in at 3:00 PM to indicate the end of his break. To end his shift and to complete the whole 9 hours, he should clock-out at 7:00 PM.
Though please note that if the break would be extended up until 3:00 PM, he should file a Schedule Adjustment indicating the extended break for the attendance to reflect accordingly.
Shift Start: 8:00 AM
Break Start: 12:00 PM
Break End: 03:00 PM
Shift Start: 07:00 PM
2. Supervisor Shift
• Similar to the Normal Shift. Comparably, an employee is required to render 9 hours of work and logs in and out based on the scheduled shift of the day. One of its distinguishable features is that if an employee with a Supervisor Shift is late for 2 hours or more, he would automatically be tagged by the system as half-day absent.
3. Single Login Shift
• As the name suggests, an employee with a Single Login Shift Type is only required to log-in once in order to be considered as present for the whole day. This is often applicable to employees with a managerial or supervisory role.
• Note: Schedule discrepancies do not reflect on the Resolution Center. Also, this schedule type can’t be applied for those with cross-date shifts (e.g. people working on a night shift).
