Minimum Wage Earners refer to a worker in the private sector paid the statutory minimum wage, or to an employee in the public sector with compensation income of not more than the statutory minimum wage in the non-agricultural sector where he/she is assigned." (R.A. 9504 Sec. 1). They are exempted from paying income tax, and, as a result, from paying withholding tax on remuneration.
In this article, you'll know how to set the MWE (Minimum Wage Earner) status of employees on the Employee Profile.
Via Employee Profile
1. Go to Employee Profile
2. In Current Payroll Information tab > Under Compensation and Benefits (Salary) > Minimum Wage Earner section

3. Click Save
Via Bulk Upload
1. On the Administration Tools tab on the Navigation toolbar, select Bulk Upload from the drop-down list that appears.
2. Under Employee Information > Select Company > Edit existing employees or Add new employees templates on Sprout HR as shown below:

- Edit existing employees - the update template will be sent via email
- Add new employees - blank template will be downloaded automatically
3. In the excel template, under column AG > Minimum Wage Earner should be selected:

- No
4. Next is to Upload the file and Employee Successfully Upload notification will prompt.
- Upon saving these changes (both either via Employee Profile or Bulk Upload), this would automatically sync to Sprout Payroll and once you view their profile on Sprout Payroll, the Minimum Wage Earner (MWE) section will be ticked as shown below (Employees tab > Employee Name > Edit > Salary Details):
