Pay Group is used to set up the Employee Type Viewing for Users on Sprout Payroll. This provides the option for certain admins or payroll processors to have access to certain types of employee information only.
The users would need a create pay groups in Sprout Payroll. This can be done manually by clicking Add new record or uploading Pay Group in bulk. To do this, you may refer to these KB articles:

Now that we have successfully added pay groups in Sprout Payroll, you may be confused about how you can assign them to employees. Continue reading to know more about it.
In FULL SYNC accounts:
1. The Pay Groups can be assigned under the Employee Profile > Current Payroll Information tab > Compensation and Benefits (Salary) in Sprout HR and it will automatically appear in Sprout Payroll.
2. You can also use the bulk edit template to update the employees' Pay Group in one go. Here's how: What is the Bulk Upload?
Important Reminder: If the bulk upload template was generated prior to adding the pay groups, you need to export an updated version of the excel template to ensure that the pay groups are reflected in the dropdown list.
In PARTIAL SYNC accounts:
1. The Pay Groups can be assigned under the Employees tab > Select the Employee Name > Click Edit > Job Details > Select the Pay Group applicable then Save.
